Had the urge to do a quick fabric craft while waiting for the weather to be nice enough to work outside!

Christmas Gifts

I really enjoyed making gifts this Christmas, a laptop bag from Lisa Lam's Bag Making Bible for my daughter, and a reversible apron using the Sew Liberated Emmeline pattern.  Here's the completed projects:

The twist lock closures on this were a challenge and I almost gave up halfway through. But I am glad I didn't  - it really does add a nice finished look to the bag.

First Blog

I love working with fabric, and the brighter the colors the better.  I especially love making handbags and creating landscape quilts.  Now that my daughters are grown and out of the house (mostly),  I have more time to sew and quilt  and I am loving every minute of it. I am pretty new to quilting and the actual quilting process seems overwhelming at times ... what design to use,  how to cohesively put together designs for the whole quilt  how get the quilt under the machine and prevent puckering, ... So this year I am going to make an effort to improve my quilting techniques and confidence.

Well, I am off to a good start, I signed up for SewCalGal's 2012 FMQ Challenge ... hopefully I can stick with it as the year rolls on.
